Team Work Makes The Dream Work
We’ve been preparing to reopen for over a year now…..you’d think I’d have it all worked out by now! But despite all the planning, all the work, all the to-do lists, I still don’t feel ready and a little nervous. Truth is, I always get a little anxious before something important. I still get anxious every time I teach always thinking that I could have done more to prepare.
This time however, I think my anxiety is justified. We are hiring some new staff which is daunting. For a small business like ours, every staff has such a big part to play. Our studio is far from typical and I have high expectations of the team. So, I’m not only am I looking for someone that will be able to lead a great class, That is only a part of it. We want someone that connects to our amazing clients, that believes in what we are doing and most importantly makes our core team better. Figuring out all of that within a couple of interviews is what is giving me anxiety of late as I have come to learn, “Team Work Makes Then Dream Work” and I really want the Dream to Work!

Sidelined & The Lessons Learned
I am on the sidelines this week. My amazing, game changing new running shoes gave me a blister. The first couple of runs with my new shoes had been great. I had no idea good running shoes could make such a difference. With my new shoes, my mind wasn’t preoccupied with how much my feet and ankles hurt from the pounding of each step. I felt like I was floating through my runs. Well…not really floating because it is still running, but it felt WAY BETTER.

What is Different Now.....Everything!
Do you ever let your mind wonder and think about what life would be like if everything went to plan. Well Jonas and I are are going through an exercise where we are trying to map out the next 1-5 years and we are forcing ourselves to let our minds wonder at what MOTIV could be.
As soon as we started, we immediately starting thinking about the destination, where we want to be in 5 years. Let me tell you, that place is amazing and life if good. We are bringing Pilates to the forefront of wellness, people are piling into Reformer classes, and my little business is turning into something special. I am travelling the world, speaking at conferences, I have a support team and an office (that isn’t the kitchen table)….life is exciting.
My thoughts then turned to frustration. I realized that the destination hasn’t changed for me much over the years, and I would have said something very similar 5 years ago and even 10+ years ago when I opened my first studio. Why is this 5 year plan different? What is different now? Well…..EVERYTHING!

Patio Season....Here I Come!!!
I don’t know about you, but I have my spot picked out. The spot on the patio where I am going to enjoy the first night out in what seems like forever! Its been so long, that I find it novel when I see people in movies eating out. To that point, when there are scenes of big crowds and busy streets it really has me wishing for “normal” times.

Ready For Anything
Its amazing how warm weather and long a weekend can give you an extra jump in your step. We were able to spend most of the long weekend outside. The kids were somehow able to spend a fair bit of time playing at the beach and in the chili waters of Georgian Bay. I will probably wait until the July long weekend for the water to get a lot warmer before I get into the bay.
Last summer, all the uncertainty seemed to creep into my activity and I wasn’t very adventurous. So, this summer I want to get amongst it, let loose and be ready for anything. There are a couple of things on my do-do list, but it is still growing. On the list is biking , golfing, seadooing, but the one that I am the most excited (and scared) about is paddle-boarding. The plan is to do some early morning (very early - 6am) paddle boarding with my neighbour. It sounds like an amazing way to start the day…until I fall into the water, then I am sure I will be questioning everything. But for now, I am pumped….I think.
